Bealtaine Festival at Knightsbridge Village

The Bealtaine Festival continues its run in Knightsbridge Village in conjunction with the Boyne Writers Group.
On Wednesday 19th May, the group performed the Top 20 Hits of Poetry to a very appreciative audience. Paddy Smith & Michael Farry tooks turns in reading aloud a selection of 'favourite poems' and provided the audience with interesting and amusing footnotes about both the poets & their poems. One such poem, 'The Fairies' by William Allingham was included in the well known film, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory.
The readings included light hearted stories such as 'Ach, I Dunno!' by Percy French and 'Oh, I wish I'd looked after me teeth' by Pam Ayers and included a selction of Irish and International poets. The top three poems were:
1st The Daffodils - William Wordsworth
2nd The Lake Isle of Innisfree - W.B. Yeats
3rd The Fairies - William Allingham
The final instalment of Bealtaine at Knightsbridge takes place in the Village Hall on Wednesday 24th May from 2.30pm to 4pm.
An exhibiiton of school books will be on display from 2.30pm followed by Memoirs of Growing Up including photographs of times past from 3pm to 4.30pm.
